More than 300 church leaders from Luzon and Visayas joined the 2005 Purpose Driven Church Conference last August 29-30, 2005 held at the GCF South Metro, Las Pinas City. They joined an alumni group of over 400,000 pastors and church leaders from around the world who have taken this training. Pastor Narry Santos, National Coordinator of Purpose Driven Southeast Asia and pastor of GCF South Metro (2005 Purpose Driven Church Health Awardee), emphasized the three-fold goals of the seminar: to stimulate creativity, to sharpen skills and to personally encourage the church leaders.
Multi-awarded singer Jamie Rivera, whose Purpose Driven Life album is now on its way to becoming a platinum, was among the gifted singers who sang during the conference. The others were Lorna Motos, Juil Miole, Coro Cantabile, Jeng Quitain and the GCF South Metro Praise and Worship team.
Pastor Narry spoke on how to build a Purpose Driven church, how to build the congregation, empowering also the core for ministry and the PD Vision and Mission. Pastor Greg Roasa of the Gospel Church of Manila (2004 Purpose Driven Church Health Awardee) taught targeting your community for evangelism and developing mature believers. Pastor Don Cua of Philadelphia Christian Fellowship spoke on how to attract a crowd to worship.
On the second day of the conference, the participants broke into groups to attend elective seminars, namely: Celebrate Recovery, Implementing 40 DOP, Purpose Driven Small Groups, 40 DOP with Catholic Communities, Influencing Your Community thru 40 DOC, Day 41, The PEACE Plan, Encouragement for Pastors' Wives, PDL Workplace Ministry and How to be a Distribution Service Provider (DSP) of PD materials.
PD Regional Coordinator for Southeast Asia Dr. Art Guina flew in from California to grace the event and encourage the church leaders to be a part of the Second Reformation that is sweeping across the globe.
