The Purpose Driven Life is the title of a book authored by Dr. Rick Warren, the pastor of Saddleback Church in California. It has been on top of every major bestseller list since its debut in 2002 and has become the bestselling hardback nonfiction book in history selling over 20 million copies in just less than two years. The book challenges readers to take a spiritual journey called the 40 Days of Purpose to answer the question "What on earth am I here for?" The six-week spiritual journey teaches that life on earth is preparation for eternity and that meaning in life comes from doing the five things God created us to do: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and missions.
Millions of people have participated in 40 Days of Purpose reading groups including corporations, schools, dozens of professional sports teams, the United States Senate, prisons, and over 20,000 churches, representing 80 different denominations. The 40 Days of Purpose campaign has spawned the Purpose Driven movement which has become a world wide phenomenon featured in over 300 newspapers, magazines, radio shows, and TV shows including USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Fox News, ABC, NBC, FORBES, and TIME magazine.
